General Information

The Los Angeles Printers Fair at the International Printing Museum will be happening on Saturday, August 29, from 8 am to 4 pm. Central to this day long event will be the Letterpress Swap Meet where you will have a chance to buy everything and anything you might need for your printing shop. Surplus machines, supplies and type from the Printing Museum’s vast warehouse will be on sale, including platen presses, table top presses, proof presses, Washington Hand Presses, paper cutters, slug cutters, furniture and reglets, quoins, tympan paper, wood type, metal type, type cabinets, mitering machines, Ludlows, decorative type borders, ornaments, cuts and engravings.
Gallery tours and demonstrations will be ongoing throughout the day, including letterpress printing on hand presses, printing on the “Seven Pounds” Windmill Press, printmaking, book arts activities and more in the Museum’s Book Arts Institute.
Vendors are welcome and encouraged to come as well to sell their surplus equipment, prints, cards, ephemera, posters, calligraphy, paper and any other related items. Tables (or ground space) are available for $25. Go to the Vendors page for more.
Admission is free but you will have an opportunity to enter the Museum’s Printers Raffle for a chance to win one of several great prizes such as a free class in the Museum’s Book Arts Institute, 4 hours of private letterpress instruction, a font of wood type, a font of a sumptuous border and more! Proceeds will benefit the Museum.
Plan to spend the day at the Los Angeles Printers Fair to enjoy the exciting world of letterpress and the book arts, network with fellow enthusiasts and maybe walk away with some wonderful treasures to add to your shop. We expect hundreds in attendance so come early.
