We still need volunteers all day long today and the Day of the Fair. Today just show up anytime at the International Printing Museum between 9am-6pm. Contact Rachelle Chuang to volunteer at the Fair at bookarts@printmuseum.org.

Keldon Paper has been ’serving up great paper with a smile since 1953″. Long an established resource in Los Angeles for commercial printers and designers, in recent years they have built a special niche catering to the fine art of letterpress printing. On August 15, Rich Tautenhahn printed cuts of antique presses from the Museum’s collection on a Heidelberg Windmill. He used gold ink and printed on beautiful donated cardstock by Envelopments. Sets of these prints will be for sale at the Fair and as one of the items you can win in the Raffle! Don’t forget you can take Rich’s Windmill class on Sunday, August 30th, there’s still room.

Thanks to the generous donation of beautiful paper by Envelopments, I started to print “flags” for the Fair using hand-set wood and lead type from the Museum. I printed the flags by hand on my Vandercook-4 at the Irvine Fine Arts Center. Here they are drying en masse.

I believe the IFAC is the only publicly accessible place to take letterpress classes in Orange County at this time (correct me if I’m wrong!). The Los Angeles Printers Fair at the International Printing Museum will be happening on Saturday, August 29, from 8 am to 4pm.
