Some Presses for Sale

Posted on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in For Sale at the Fair

Latest Update as of 8.25.09:

There will be a number of presses at the fair, including some platen presses (value of $1,500 to $2,500) and a couple of table top pilot presses (value $1,000 to $1,500), and some table top proof presses (value of about $500+); so there might be something that fits your needs.

Several inquiries about the Vandercooks that are for sale at the Printing Museum. We have several models that will be available.
Model 219 AB (adjustable bed)  working, shop condition; haven’t had a chance to get rollers recast yet but will do so prior to delivery of press. 219AB is the predecessor to the adjustable bed Universal Series;
their value is between $8,000 and $10,000 right now. This press will not be pre-sold prior to the Printers Fair since we announced it will be available at the event.
Model 219 working, shop condition, rollers in average condition (useable). Value of the press is $6,000 to $8,000. Press will be available at Fair or by a pre-sale with a reasonable offer.
Model 25-24 This is a very large Vandercook that can print posters up to 25 x 24 inches, non-motorized inking. Working, good condition but big and heavy. Value is $6,000+
Model 3 This model is a non-motorized No. 4, so you rotate the ink rollers manually to distribute the ink. The 3 and 4 are predecessors to the SP 15 Series which were made lightweight and they cut corners in the manufacturing to save costs. The 3 and 4 are better, more durable presses, cast iron. The non-motorized 3 is good if you do not need to make long press runs. Press is in very good condition, along with the rollers. Value is $5,000+. Available at Fair or before.
Model 2 This is a true proof press, can print about 15 x 20, but you have to hand ink the form and there is no registration system for the paper (one can be created I guess). Good for artistic poster printing, printmaking type work, safe classroom printing of large stuff, but not for registered edition work.  Value $1,500

Delivery in the local So. Cal area is available, and we can help make arrangements to have any machine crated and shipped nationally (we have done this several times).
